Mark Your Calendars . . . December Sixth!

There is a lot of bad stuff surfacing in our Church and world today. Seems that offering a day of prayer on December Sixth honors our dedication to God and sends forth prayers in reparation for the evil that is being done. I also included below prayers which would be great for starting a Novena forĀ  these intentions beginning on December sixth. Hey, if four exorcists think we need this, I’m going by their experiences in their ministry!

Act of Consecration of the Human Race to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

Most sweet Jesus, Redeemer of the human race, look down upon us humbly prostrate before Thy altar. We are Thine, and Thine we wish to be; but, to be more surely united with Thee, behold each one of us freely consecrates himself today to Thy Most Sacred Heart. Many indeed have never known Thee; many too, despising Thy precepts, have rejected Thee. Have mercy on them all, most merciful Jesus, and draw them to Thy Sacred Heart.

Be Thou King, O Lord, not only of the faithful who have never forsaken Thee, but also of the prodigal children who have abandoned Thee; grant that they may quickly return to their Father’s house lest they die of wretchedness and hunger.

Be Thou King of those who are deceived by erroneous opinions, or whom discord keeps aloof; call them back to the harbor of truth and unity of faith, so that soon there may be but one flock and one Shepherd.

Be Thou King of all those who are still involved in the darkness of idolatry or of Islamism; refuse not to draw them all into the light and kingdom of God. Turn Thine eyes of mercy toward the children of that race, once Thy chosen people: of old they called down upon themselves the Blood of the Savior; may it now descend upon them a laver of redemption and of life.

Grant, O Lord, to Thy Church assurance of freedom and immunity from harm; give peace and order to all nations, and make the earth resound from pole to pole with one cry: Praise to the Divine Heart that wrought our salvation; to It be glory and Honor forever. Amen.

Act of Reparation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

O sweet Jesus, Whose overflowing charity for men is requited by so much forgetfulness, negligence and contempt, behold us prostrate before Thy altar eager to repair by a special act of homage the cruel indifference and injuries, to which Thy loving Heart is everywhere subject.

Mindful alas! that we ourselves have had a share in such great indignities, which we now deplore from the depths of our hearts, we humbly ask Thy pardon and declare our readiness to atone by voluntary expiation not only for our own personal offenses, but also for the sins of those, who, straying far from the path of salvation, refuse in their obstinate infidelity to follow Thee, their Shepherd and Leader, or, renouncing the vows of their baptism, have cast off the sweet yoke of Thy Law.

We are now resolved to expiate each and every deplorable outrage committed against Thee; we are determined to make amends for the manifold offenses against Christian modesty in unbecoming dress and behavior, for all the foul seductions laid to ensnare the feet of the innocent, for the frequent violations of Sundays and holidays, and the shocking blasphemies uttered against Thee and Thy Saints.

We wish also to make amends for the insults to which Thy Vicar on earth and Thy priests are subjected, for the profanation, by conscious neglect or terrible acts of sacrilege, of the very Sacrament of Thy Divine Love; and lastly for the public crimes of nations who resist the rights and teaching authority of the Church which Thou hast founded.

Would, O divine Jesus, we were able to wash away such abominations with our blood. We now offer, in reparation for these violations of Thy divine honor, the satisfaction Thou didst once make to Thy eternal Father on the cross and which Thou dost continue to renews daily on our altars; we offer it in union with the acts of atonement of Thy Virgin Mother and all the Saints and of the pious faithful on earth; and we sincerely promise to make recompense, as far as we can with the help of Thy grace, for all neglect of Thy great love and for the sins we and others have committed in the past. Henceforth we will live a life of unwavering faith, of purity of conduct, of perfect observance of the precepts of the gospel and especially that of charity. We promise to the best of our power to prevent other from offending Thee and to bring as many as possible to follow Thee.

O loving Jesus, through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, our model in reparation, deign to receive the voluntary offering we make of this act of expiation; and by the crowning gift of perseverance keep us faithful unto death in our duty and the allegiance we owe to Thee, so that we may one day come to that happy home, where Thou with the Father and the Holy Ghost livest and reignest God, world without end. Amen.

Idols and Ideas . . . Where Is the Synod Trying to Push the Church . . .

To me, it sort of seems like one of the main goals of the recent Amazon Synod was to work women into aspects of the liturgy historically reserved for men – you know to ease off the patriarchal aspect of the Church over the last centuries! I’m not going to argue the case here as there are people who can do that better than I but here are a few thoughts of those in the know and I think the current leanings coming from Rome could have them rolling in their graves.

St. Paul in 1 Cor. 14:34 writes: ā€œWomen should remain silent in Churchesā€ ā€“ a law which was followed in the Church until various interpretations of the Second Vatican Council saw women reading the Scriptures at Mass but not the Gospel.

Pope Benedict XIVā€™s 1755 encyclical Allatae Sunt summarizes the history and teaching of the Church, saying:

ā€œPope Gelasius in his ninth letter (chap. 26) to the bishops of Lucania condemned the evil practice which had been introduced of women serving the priest at the celebration of Mass. Since this abuse had spread to the Greeks, Innocent IV strictly forbade it in his letter to the bishop of Tusculum: ‘Women should not dare to serve at the altar; they should be altogether refused this ministry.’ We too have forbidden this practice in the same words in Our oft-repeated constitution Etsi Pastoralis, sect. 6, no. 21.ā€ (Pope Benedict XIV, Encyclical Allatae Sunt, July 26, 1755, n. 29)

As to a suggestion for women ā€œdeacons,ā€ Pope John Paul II stressed the impossibility of female ā€œordinationā€ in the 1994 document Ordinatio Sacerdotalis:

Although the teaching that priestly ordination is to be reserved to men alone has been preserved by the constant and universal Tradition of the Church and firmly taught by the Magisterium in its more recent documents, at the present time in some places it is nonetheless considered still open to debate, or the Churchā€™s judgment that women are not to be admitted to ordination is considered to have a merely disciplinary force.

Wherefore, in order that all doubt may be removed regarding a matter of great importance, a matter which pertains to the Churchā€™s divine constitution itself, in virtue of my ministry of confirming the brethren (cf. Lk 22:32) I declare that the Church has no authority whatsoever to confer priestly ordination on women and that this judgment is to be definitively held by all the Churchā€™s faithful.

Pope John Paul II also pointed to Our Lady as the that women were not meant to be in ordained ministry for, as he suggested, were Christ to have chosen any woman in history for ordination it would have been His Mother.

Australian Justice . . .

If you haven’t heard by now, Cardinal Pell was retried on allegations of sexual misconduct for a second time and the verdict came down this week. It seems that he was absolved of the charges in the first court trial but that wasn’t the result the courts seemed to desire. Even with the facts that there were numerous testmonies to the fact that the allegation couldn’t be verified, the court system of Australia gave it another go and convicted Cardinal Pell this time around. I guess that double jeopardy is a given if one is proven innocent yet others wish a different outcome.

Now, Cardinal Pell has been very outspoken over the years in regards to marriage, homosexuality, and other views along those topics. He seems to have become a target to subtely give others notice of what happens when you go against the modern ‘truths and facts’ of the day. In every country, however, and the United States isn’t an exception, freedom of speech just isn’t all that free these days if you differ with the liberal/leftist views. A high-profile individual dares uphold his faith and values and the Austrailian legal system, in their mind, brought him down.

Although, the Cardinal is no longer a free man, is held in solitary 23 hours of each day, was limited to the sacraments at the choice of his captors, and is now being sent to a prison for felons of sexual crimes, he has maintained his faith, probably thinks on the Book of Job, and relies on the mercy of God in God’s time. We all have a God-given plan in our life and it seems that part of Cardinal Pell’s will be from behind bars.

ā€œCan judges who do evil be your friends?
They do injustice under cover of law;
They attack the life of the just
And condemn innocent blood.ā€œ
