Fog
by Carl Sandburg
The fog comes
on little cat feet.
It sits looking
over harbor and city
on silent haunches
and then moves on.
This has always been a favorite poem of mine from the time we read it in my Fifth Grade class until now. I do take some exception to comparing fog to our cat’s feet because when she stomps through the house, she is competition for Godzilla!
